When Life Throws You Lemons, Turn it into a Morning Routine!

I’ve been researching healthy new changes to add to my life to improve my health, my mind, and physical body. I’ve never been attracted to diets that are limiting and require you to live out of your normal circumstance because it’s just not a reality. I once went to a nutritionist that had me on a “lifestyle change” not a diet plan as he called it that included me never having sugar, never touching sodium anything, and I was only allowed water. Yes! that means, I never had coffee, sodas, juices, any sweets, nothing that had sodium in it, stopped going out to restaurants and if I did it was always a salad. Extremely restricting, oh and I was given a booklet of the allowed foods, the way I had to pair my foods, etc. This worked wonders for me except it was the most annoyed I probably have ever been with having to stop myself in the middle of something because it was time to eat and I couldn’t enjoy a random lunch invite because I was on a schedule and plan. I lost weight fairly fast which was the ultimate result I was looking for yet I was unable to keep up with having a life of such harsh restrictions that I ended up gaining even more than the original weight I was concerned with.

The lesson I learned from that experience was that extreme dieting is only good temporarily. So, it’s been my goal and determination to find different solutions that are not only natural to me but provide various health benefits long-term. In this search for change and openness to introduce my body to new habits I came across the benefits of lemons. Google never let’s me down may I add. I introduced lemon water to myself on Monday morning and lunch time, I love water but not flavored water so this was my trial run. The remainder of the week I’ve been drinking warm lemon water in the mornings on an empty stomach. I prepare it just like I would when I am making tea. I boil the water, add two slices of lemon in the mug, pour the water in, carry on prepping myself up for work and by the time I am ready to drink the lemon water it has settled and it’s closer to a comfortable temperature I can drink it.

Now, what’s so special about this whole lemon water well allow me to share. I’ve been having extremely blushing pinkish cheeks and its helped those blemishes clear out. I get an energy boost just like if i drank a cup of coffee but it feels more subtle without feeling like I just consumed a spoonful of loaded flavored sugars awaiting a crash in the office right after. Guess what? no sugar crash with lemon water. I haven’t felt bloated all week which is another plus. It helps your body rid of waste faster because it’s literally cleansing you from inside out. Drinking lemon water helps with getting rid of toxins, waste, and purifying your blood even! Why wouldn’t I keep drinking lemon water? And other great benefits that I must share are the more obvious vitamin C that lemons provide which help to get glowing skin and it helps with wrinkles. The most important to me out of all its benefits are the help lemons provide for your nervous system. Anything that helps alleviate a little anxiousness naturally I’m all for it.

So do yourself a little favor why don’t you.

    I like lemon water too! It’s really good at clearing all the caffeine from all the coffee intakes. Just that I still prefer a bit of the sugar so I still have some of the sugar to make it lemonade. 🙂
